Individual Therapy Sessions
My fee is $140 (incl. HST) per 50 minute session. Payment can be made by either cash, cheque, or email money transfer. I do consider offering a sliding scale for students or clients on a limited income which can be discussed at the initial consultation.
My fee is $300 - $600 (+HST) for assessments, depending on the complexity of the report. The fee for Legal Aid cases is $339 (incl. HST). This service includes a one-time 60-90 minute assessment with the client and a comprehensive written report. Payment must be made in cash, cheque or money transfer at the end of the session. The law firm will be invoiced directly for Legal Aid cases.
Please note that I have recently implemented a policy that LAO claimants must bring $100 in cash to their appointment to cover my administrative fees. The assessment is still covered by legal aid but this fee must be paid at the appointment.
If a session is to be cancelled or rescheduled, I must be given 24 hours notice or the full fee for the session will be charged.
Income Tax Receipts
Psychotherapy is considered a medical expense for income tax purposes. If your insurance will not provide coverage, receipts can be provided upon request and submitted as an expense.
Services may be covered in full or in part by your extended health insurance or employee benefit plan. Please check your coverage carefully by asking the following questions:
• Do I have mental health benefits?
• What is my deductible and has it been met?
• How many sessions per calendar year does my plan cover?
• How much does my plan cover for an out-of-network provider?
• What is the coverage amount per therapy session?
• Is approval required from my primary care physician?
What is your emotional health worth to you? Psychotherapy can be an expense, but personal investments often are. Just as you may spend money on a gym membership or furthering your education, therapy is a personal investment that you are making for yourself and in yourself.
